Rumoured deal in works for Thaksin

The Duke of Wellington is frequently quoted as saying that the Battle of Waterloo "was won on the playing fields of Eton," a tribute to the officer corps turned out by England's most prestigious private school. But it seems the same cannot be said of the May 2010 Battle of Bangkok in which about 100 people were killed when troops broke up the occupation of the centre of Thailand's capital by thousands of supporters of the country's exiled, ousted former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Last week the prime minister at the time, British-born old Etonian Abhisit Vejjajiva - known to his classmates such as British Prime Minister David Cameron and London Mayor Boris Johnson simply as "Veggie" - was charged with murder for having ordered the crackdown. The Prime Minister of Thailand now is Yingluck Shi-nawatra, the younger sister of ousted leader Thaksin. So t^^ is much speculation in Thailand that the murder charges against Abhisit, now the leader of the main opposition Democrat Party, are a bargaining chip to try to persuade him to support an amnesty for Thaksin, who was convicted in absentia of abuse of power.
